
ACCREDITATION INFORMATION

MAD-ID, Inc. is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education as the provider of continuing pharmacy education.
As an attendee of MAD-ID 2010, you will be able to earn up to 17.5 Continuing Education credit hours. At the conclusion of this activity, you should be able to:
- Discuss ways in which antimicrobial stewardship initiatives impact the general
public health
- Present an administrative plan for maintaining and improving stewardship
intervention, and list the cost drivers that justify the establishment of such programs
- List ways in which pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamic principles may be applied
in optimizing therapy in individual patients and discuss challenges to their implementation
- Discuss basic infection control processes and explain their inter-relationship with
antimicrobial stewardship programs
- Describe basic stewardship philosophies and processes and compare and
contrast based upon advantages and disadvantages
- Describe methods to objectively measure the impact of a stewardship program
on both patient outcomes and health care costs
- Provide a plan for ongoing cost justification of a stewardship program
- Describe and contrast antimicrobial de-escalation and streamlining as methods
to optimize therapy
- State the board tenets of the recent MRSA treatment guidelines and discuss
implications for everyday patient care
- Describe epidemiologic and surveillance data for pandemic influenza A
(atypical H1N1 or Swine Flu) and list and contrast prevention and treatment options
- List the pharmacokinetic alterations expected with antimicrobials in patients with
continuous renal replacement therapy, obesity, advanced age, and critical illness
and propose methods to adapt dosing appropriately
- Describe the pathophysiology of bacterial sepsis/shock and state current
therapeutic inventions
- Discuss the challenges posed by multiply drug resistant Pseudomonas and
Acinetobacter and list the therapeutic options
